Float Glass: Control temperature and avoid shattered products

What causes glass to become brittle and break?

When manufacturing glass, the main factor to consider is temperature. If temperature fluctuates too much, the glass product will solidify with irregularities, such as trapped bubbles. This eventually creates a brittle low-quality product with an uneven surface that might even break entirely.

The solution? Displaying a real-time thermal image of the entire glass area will reduce the chance of error. This monitoring strategy allows you to control the temperature, ensuring that it remains stable and uniform across the entire glass pane.

With our GS150 Thermal Imaging System, this task becomes much easier. By combining an MP Linescanner with our specialised software, the system provides real-time feedback and alerts about the state of your product.

Furthermore, we optimised image processing for glass applications thanks to the addition of an emissivity correction mode. Adjust the settings according to the type of glass and you will ensure extremely accurate results.

Our GS150 is fully customizable, easy to install and provides a wide choice of spectral and temperature ranges, making it useful for multiple glass applications, such as:

  • Float Glass
  • Flat Glass Tempering
  • Automotive Glass
  • And more!
