Did you know that the highest proportion of the Carbon fingerprint of a hot-stamped component is in the blank itself? This is just one aspect of hot forming/press hardening that you can reveal with monitoring and optimized data management.
As key parts of the automotive industry, hot forming/press hardening must be carefully monitored to avoid scrapped blanks, machine breakdown and plant downtime. In such a competitive industry, these errors generate significant monetary losses that our clients should prevent at all costs, not only by controlling temperature, but also by controlling blank alignment.
The Selmatec solution
With our traceability improvement strategy, we aim to provide a holistic solution to reduce the risk of component scrapping due to misalignment of blanks while monitoring temperature parameters.
Our short and medium wavelength IR sensors (IR line scanners and CIR cameras) measure the exact board / component temperature in compliance with CQI-9. In addition, we can simultaneously monitor the position of the PCB with our 4MP CIR camera to avoid damage to the watercooled die.
Fusion of data
With alignment and temperature information acquired, the Selmatec solution will add an extra layer to detail by also integrating furnace/press data to create a unique fingerprint of the manufactured components. This combined data is automatically organized in a SQL database, which can then be visualized in multiple forms:

- In-cycle telegram (e.g. MQTT)

- Digital image series of blanks (100% press job documentation)
- Time-lapse video recreation of the press complete press job
