Is windshield heating meeting your expectations?

In the automotive industry, producing heated windshields and rear windows comes with a critical challenge: ensuring even heat distribution across the entire surface. This is not just a performance feature, it’s a critical safety requirement. Uneven heating can make getting rid of visual disturbances (e.g. frost) very difficult while on the go, increasing accident risks.
At Selmatec, we’ve developed the HW-Inspector, an advanced solution that combines cutting-edge IR camera technology with intelligent software to ensure flawless heated windshield and rear window production. Specifically designed for Final Acceptance Testing (FAT), our system simplifies inspection while guaranteeing that every pane meets the highest standards of quality, reliability, and safety.
How It Works
During production, each windshield undergoes rigorous testing at the test station, where a type-specific current activates the heating elements. Since capturing a wide-area view is crucial, our powerful IR camera (ThermoView TV30 or IRSX) records high-frame-rate thermal images in real time, ensuring complete surface coverage. The HW Inspector software then processes and stores this data in an SQL database, enabling detailed analysis with customizable ROI settings. Any inconsistencies in heat distribution are instantly identified, ensuring optimal performance and long-term reliability.
By automating data capture, analysis, and reporting, our solution eases the burden of manual work, making production smoother and more efficient. With streamlined quality control, you can be confident that every heated windshield performs flawlessly and meets the highest safety standards.
Optionally, the power units can also be integrated or connected to the system. This enables complete testing technology with component management and component-specific energization of the test specimens, including logging of the target and actual power data.
