Is your solution really protecting your conveyors?

As technology improves, our equipment becomes more accurate and efficient. However, this does not mean that all devices are suitable for every application.

A device to monitor conveyor belts must be well suited to detect small hot spots moving at high speed somewhere on the surface, making bandwidth coverage and measurement frequency critical factors. A pyrometer is therefore automatically ruled out due to its low coverage.

A bolometric IR-camera seems to be a good choice because it covers a large area, but its effective measurement frequency (not to be confused with frame rate) is not sufficient to detect the velocity of a hot spot. The thermal image feedback shows a line instead of a dot, and the temperature measurement is not accurate.

In contrast, with a pyroelectric line scanner, the extremely fast acquisition of a series of discrete pixels is much more efficient to provide a complete image of the area, which also provides more accurate temperature results of the moving hot spot.
