PH-Inspector: Discover the power of hybrid virtual sensors for future-proof monitoring
In previous entries, we introduced our PH-Inspector, a modular, scalable solution for temperature monitoring and data tracking in press hardening lines. But this time we would like to highlight one of the core features that contributes to the adaptability of the solution: hybrid virtual sensor technology.
Why hybrid virtual sensors matter
In press hardening, precise control of blank temperature is critical, as minor deviations can directly impact the mechanical properties of the final part. Yet, physical sensors alone are often limited by blind spots, complex geometries, or high costs when fully instrumenting the line.
Our PH-Inspector addresses this with a hybrid approach: by combining real IR sensors with process logic, timing and model-based estimation. Thanks to this data fusion strategy, process speed, transparency and reliability has never been higher. Specifically, this means that you receive continuous data and reliable thermal profiles for each blank, despite challenging conditions.
What this means for your operations
Real-time tracking and prediction by the PH-Inspector strengthens component-level traceability, ensuring that every blank meet thermal specs before forming (First-Part-Right Production oriented). However, the system benefits are not just restricted to the quality of the final product. Higher accuracy also means reduced scrap and higher throughput, since virtual sensors will maintain process control across the full line, reducing the risk of deviation or downtime.
Additionally, hybrid sensors reduce overspending on hardware and support future integration with AI, reinforcing the scalability of the PH-Inspector solution.
From ECO to PLATINUM: Our PH-Inspector is available in different tiers to suit your business at any stage.
ECO: this tier provides a starter set-up with low-cost IR sensors, such as long-wave bolometric IR cameras (TV30 and IRSX models). This highly affordable version, still provides the key advantages of the PH-Inspector and can be upgraded any time when your requirements increase.
Premium: this version of the PH-Inspector is fully CQI-9-compliant, making it a leader in both price and performance. It combines a medium-wave IR-linescanner (for monitoring pressed components) and a CIR-camera (for position control and thermal monitoring of hot blanks) and/or short wavelength IR-linescanner.
Platinum: the final and most developed tier of the PH-Inspector uses cooled short-wave or medium-wave high-end IR sensors (cameras) with megapixel resolution. The pinnacle of performance.
