Sinter band: Ensure the homogeneous solidification of fine particles

Before reaching the cooling stage, the fine particles of iron ore that will create the sinter must be heated on the band to form a semi-sturdy sinter cake. Thanks to thermography we are easily able to monitor the process, including the temperature of this elusive material, which is crucial to detect errors that might potentially be related to equipment failure and can cause a decrease in product quality.

By using one or two Endurance ratio pyrometers you can begin by monitoring the source of the temperature, the ignition hood, to ensure it remains stable. For accurate results, either point the devices at the burners or at the centre of the ignition hood.

To monitor the sinter band itself we recommend the Thermoview TV40, an infrared camera that can capture the entire surface of the band and provides thermal images of the sinter cake in real time.
