Advance Your Cement Plant with Intelligent Monitoring and Automation Solutions
With our advanced infrared measurement solutions, we provide flexible monitoring strategies tailored to different challenges. For our clients in the cement industry, we have special rotary kiln solutions, from shell monitoring to chamber observation and targeted spot measurements.
The rotary kiln operates under some of the most demanding conditions: high temperatures, continuous rotation, and harsh environments. Reliable temperature monitoring is essential to maintain stable kiln operation, protect equipment, and plan maintenance at the right time.
Here are some of the systems we designed to provide the process insight needed for safer operation, proactive maintenance, and consistent end product quality.
First, we target the kiln shell, which provides valuable information about the condition of the refractory lining. As refractory wear progresses, heat transfer to the outer shell increases, creating abnormal temperature patterns that can indicate developing issues before visible damage occurs.
With our CS400 Kiln Shell Monitoring System, we combine the MP300 line scanner with our expertly designed software to generate a detailed thermal profile and 3D visualization of the entire surface. Customize the angle of your 3D model, as well as regions of interest and data highlights to easily detect temperature anomalies and monitor refractory wear over time. Thanks to real-time feed on a user friendly platform, the system helps operators take preventive action before hot spots result in unplanned shutdowns or costly repairs.
Due to the construction of rotary kilns, support rings and other structural components can create shadow zones where the line scanner cannot directly measure the shell temperature. To achieve complete thermal coverage, additional infrared pyrometers can be integrated to monitor these areas and complement the line scanner data.
Enhancing Insight Into Kiln Chamber Conditions
While kiln shell monitoring provides information about external temperature patterns, observing conditions inside the kiln chamber offers additional process insight.
We recommend to our clients our FC-Inspector, a system which provides continuous chamber monitoring with real video feed using our specialized software and a high-resolution digital color camera safely installed in versatile heavy-duty housing. Designed for demanding kiln environments, this stainless-steel housing includes a sighting tube and air/water purging that allows it to endure up to 2000°C. On the software side, exposure times and vision modes can be easily adjusted, simplifying anomaly detection.
Precise Spot Measurements Inside the Kiln Chamber
But while the FC-Inspector provides a general overview of chamber conditions, the Kiln Blaster enables targeted temperature measurement at specific points inside the kiln chamber.
This hardware system, which includes a set of pyrometers, consists of housing especially designed to deliver results where brittle thermocouples fail. As the FC-Inspector device, it is equipped with a sighting tube and cooling mechanisms, but the Kiln Blaster is also optimized for pulse-pressure, making it the ideal choice to monitor hot meal and hot gas. By protecting the measurement equipment from extreme operating conditions, the Kiln Blaster ensures reliable long-term temperature monitoring at critical locations.
The ideal pyrometer configuration depends on individual process conditions and measurement requirements. Our experts can help in selecting the most suitable setup for accurate and reliable temperature data.
Flexible Solutions, One Integrated Platform
All kiln monitoring solutions are built with our modular SelVision software platforms and designed for seamless integration. Whether monitoring the kiln shell, observing chamber conditions, or performing targeted temperature measurements, all collected data can be managed within one integrated environment.
The modular design allows manufacturers to select the solution that best fits their requirements, from a single targeted measurement to a complete monitoring setup combining multiple systems. Additional solutions can also be added later, with installation designed to minimize production interruptions.
